Toshiba takes SDHC cards to new heights

Toshiba have broken the barrier for SDHC cards today, announcing a massive 32GB model along with a 16GB variant and also an 8GB microSDHC card. The SD-M32G 32GB card is set for launch sometime in January next year, and with a VERY hefty price tag (around $700!). The 16GB model (SD-M16G) will be shipped in October and will sell for around half the price. The 8GB microSDHC card will also begin shipping in January. All cards are said to have the same 6MB/sec maximum write speeds and meet class 4 specifications. The Dailytech have more details on them here.

Any DSLR camera owner can tell you that when it comes to shooting 10-to-12 megapixels or larger RAW format images, you need a giant memory card. Most of us might think the 8GB SDHC cards are still pretty big, but not Toshiba.Toshiba (requires registration) announced they will have humongous 32GB and 16GB SDHC memory cards in the market soon. The Toshiba 32GB SDHC card, model SD-M32G, is set to be available in January 2008 and will be a class 4 speed card.

UBiQUiO 503G Windows Mobile 6 Smartphone

UBiQUiO might not be a company that you’re familiar with, and in all honesty neither were we until recently. However, UBiQUiO is a part of online retailer Expansys, or rather a subsidiary I should say. The UBiQUiO brand has been around for almost seven years now, although the venture into Windows Mobile devices and hardware in general is much more recent. Besides the 503G which we’ll be looking at today, UBiQUiO offers a couple of older Windows Mobile devices, but it’s also a serious player in the UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) market and has a Skype phone and Bluetooth keyboard on offer as well.

It might not seem like a lot of products, but considering that UBiQUiO has only been doing hardware for about a year, it’s still a pretty good repertoire. The designs are in many cases their own, or at least exclusive to UBiQUiO. As with so many other companies out there today, it’s easy to buy a finished design and customise the software as long as it meets your quality standards. There’s no shortage of mobile phone manufacturers, although many of them don’t sell their products directly to end users.
But enough about the company, let’s take a closer look at the device itself. The 503G is using one of the less well used form factors when it comes to Windows Mobile devices, as it’s got a fairly small 2.4-inch horizontal LCD touch screen with a resolution of 240x320. Below the screen is a full backlit QWERTY keyboard, and between that and the screen is a set of navigation keys, but we’ll get back to those in a little bit.

The hardware is rather impressive with a 520MHz Marvell XScale PXA 270 CPU which has been combined with a Qualcomm 6280 3G/HSDPA chip. Further to this, UBiQUiO has added 96MB of RAM and 192MB of ROM, although most of the ROM is already taken up by Windows Mobile 6 Professional and the pre-installed applications. Oddly enough, a lot of the RAM memory seems to be used up by default, especially compared to devices with only 64MB of RAM. The same goes for the ROM, but this will apparently be fixed in an upcoming update from UBiQUiO, so be sure to check out their website for this.

GIGABYTE P35T-DQ6 (DDR3) Reviewed

DDR3 memory is now in high swing with modules coming out from all the major players. Just recently we did a roundup of three separate kits from OCZ, Kingston and Geil, each having their own distinct flavours and speeds.
DDR3 has already shown its ability to scale, JEDEC standards now support DDR3 memory modules up to 1333MHz, and I’m sure we will see 2000MHz modules soon enough, especially given that companies like OCZ and Corsair have already dished up kits hitting 1800MHz without any problems. DDR3 really has started to make a name for itself. Intel currently hold the trump card on the DDR3 bandwagon, as only the Intel 3 series chipsets have any support for it. There is no news from Nvidia, ATI, VIA or SiS yet as to when their DDR3 offerings will appear, so we will have to stick with Intel, though this isn’t really such a bad thing. Intel’s P35 chipset has already made a huge impact on the market, turning the Core 2 series of CPU into King of the PC platform. 1333MHz FSB, DDR3 memory and Crossfire already have it going strong. When X38 makes its debut, we will see Intel move into extreme performance with extreme memory, extreme turning and dual full-speed x16 PCI-Express lanes for Crossfire graphics, and hopefully SLI as well. Today we are looking at GIGABYTE’s first DDR3 offering for the high-end market. Under the Dual Quad 6 series of board, the P35T-DQ6 is designed to carry on from the P35-DQ6. The big difference? Let’s have a look and find out.

How to Remove Spyware From Your PC

These days it may seem as though the short list of unavoidable perils ought to be expanded to include death, taxes, and spyware. But if you ever do get infected with some nasty piece of malware, all you need to get rid of it are the right free tools, some time, and a little know-how.
A couple of warnings first: Removing spyware is as much art as it is science. The rogues who create spyware make removing their malicious programs as difficult as they can. In addition, some types of spyware download and install additional components, often hiding pieces of code from Windows to make removal even harder. The instructions below will wipe out most forms of spyware, but your machine's infestation may resist these measures. If so, you may have to consult a professional PC repair person. Or you can start afresh by reformatting your hard drive and then reloading Windows, your apps, and your data files (browse to our article "Windows Rejuvenated" for instructions).
_____________________________________________________________

Sound Off: How do you protect yourself online?______________________________________________________
Note too that if you perform certain removal steps improperly, your PC could become inoperable. Our instructions call out these danger spots, but if you don't feel confident about performing them, ask for help from a knowledgeable friend or from the experts on a spyware-removal Web forum such as TomCoyote, Geeks to Go, or SpywareInfo.
Make Sure It's an InfectionHow do you know whether your PC has an active spyware infestation? Slower-than-normal performance is the most common symptom people report, but such behavior can also be due to any number of factors unrelated to spyware, such as running too many applications with too little system memory, having a full or very fragmented hard drive, or running buggy software that fails to free up the memory it uses after you close the application. Your first task is to determine whether you have a spyware-related problem or just a slow machine.
Download the latest versions of these tools:
Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool. This program is updated monthly, so always download the latest version before you use it.

Microsoft's Windows Defender. Windows Vista has Defender built-in, but if you suspect that you have spyware on your PC, update the program so it can find the newest bad stuff.

Avira Antivir PersonalEdition Classic, a free antivirus program--if you don't already have up-to-date antivirus software.
Since some spyware applications prevent you from downloading these tools, or from visiting the Web sites that host them, download the programs to another PC that you know is free of spyware. Then copy the installers to a portable USB drive, and plug that drive into the machine you suspect is infected.
Start by running the Malicious Software Removal Tool. This program is designed to search for and destroy only a small fraction of malware, but the ones it finds are the most serious strains of spyware and virus you can get.
If that program doesn't find anything, run the installer for Windows Defender (if it isn't already installed on your PC) and make sure that the program downloads its updates. Then click the downward-pointing arrow to the right of the word 'Scan' at the top of the Defender window and choose Full Scan. If Defender finds malware, follow the on-screen instructions to delete the harmful files. This may require one or more reboots, because some spyware won't let you uninstall it while Windows is running.
If Defender fails to find anything, or if it finds spyware that it can't delete, it's time for a full antivirus scan. If you're using an antivirus program that is already loaded on your system, make sure that it's updated. If you're using AntiVir, run the installer, and then reboot. When AntiVir is running, you'll see an icon in your system tray showing an open umbrella inside a red square. Right-click the icon and choose Start AntiVir. Click the Start Update link in AntiVir's program window, and when the update is complete, click the Scanner tab, choose the Local Drives option in the lower pane, and press the key to begin scanning your hard drive. If it finds anything, AntiVir will pop up a dialog box. Select either Quarantine or Delete to remove the suspect files that it identifies.

Cisco Memory Issues

Almost all advanced Cisco routers and switches are equipped with the Cisco proprietary operating systems called the IOS, depending on the version of IOS installed in your Cisco product there is an additional component called the Management Information Base (MIB) integrated into the IOS operating system. The reason why we are discussing the MIB is because, if you have a Cisco product with an IOS version greater than 11.1, chances are you have the MIB module will be available to you, and you can easily acquire accurate memory information on the product. This of course is very useful if you plan to upgrade the memory of your product. Note: that only Cisco Pix firewalls do not come equipped with the IOS operating system. Before we go into the nitty-gritties of why you should upgrade your Cisco memory, the first thing to discuss is the types of memory that is used in a Cisco product. a) Processor MemoryAs the name suggests, this memory acts similar to the CPU cache in a computer, all basic computing operations of your switch, or router will depend on the processor memory, irrespective of the other memory being used, the processor memory is the first memory that is accessed and used. All the files needed for booting and essential system files required for functioning of the Cisco product are stored in the processor memory. If you are using a product that has IOS before 11.1 then the total of all types of memory is reported as the processor memory. b) Flash Memory Card or Cisco Memory CardThe flash memory is a special type of programmable memory that is used to store images of the IOS software on it, in addition the flash memory is used to upgrade versions of the router or switch being used, in fact the term 'flashing a product' means upgrading the version of IOS stored on the flash memory card. For technically inclined people the flash memory is a type of EEPROM (Electrically Erasable PROM).c) RAM (Random Access Memory)This is often referred to as the shared memory, since the RAM is erased every time the router is restarted or when the memory is deliberately cleared, it is purely temporary in nature and is usually the easiest to upgrade. The RAM stores all data that is temporary in nature, and upgrading the RAM usually helps improve the speed and the computing power of the Cisco product. It is cheaper than Flash memory and multiple manufacturers offer RAM when compared to flash memory. Depending on the reason for upgrading the memory, either the Flash memory or the RAM is upgraded in most Cisco products. Also high end products like routers offer multiple memory slots to upgrade both the RAM and the Flash memory if need be. The reasons for upgrading the memory of your Cisco product usually are:Increasing speedJust like conventional computes, increasing the memory of a Cisco product increases its speed. Especially if the product is a Cisco router or switch that handles large amounts of data over the network, by increasing the RAM of the product one can greatly improve not just the processing performance of the product but also improve the speed of functioning. Catering to a new version of IOSAs mentioned earlier, versions before 11.1 of IOS do not support the MIB, this means that you have two options if you want newer features; the first is to upgrade the entire product all together, the other being to upgrade the version of IOS, this is where the flash memory or Cisco memory comes into play. Older Cisco hardware is usually not equipped with sufficient flash memory, to store a newer version of the IOS. In this case the only option is to upgrade the flash memory of the Cisco product, but a note of caution here, experts believe that when it comes to flash memory it is a very good idea to buy either Cisco or OEM flash memory cards only. Corruption in the flash memory is a known reason for product malfunction and frequent parity errors.

Notebook As A Tool Of Time Management

Notebooks have emerged as a bare essential for the business executives who carry their work along with themselves. Notebooks which are also known as laptops can facilitate the work process thereby saving substantial and valuable time. In short, it is used as tool of time management. Owning a notebook is a dream of many, but since it is very expensive nobody buys it unless it is indispensable to them. However, some people having shoe-string budget look for a good notebook. They are the ones who need detailed and comprehensive information on notebooks and laptops before they settle for one. Basically, buying a notebook or laptop largely depends upon the personal choice, specific requirement and social status of a person. Besides, different manufacturers are introducing notebooks of different look with a wide-range of features. However, some notebooks are launched in the market to cater to a particular segment of buyers keeping in mind of their specific needs. Accordingly, these laptops differ in flavor, class and quality. Let`s take a look at the various types of notebooks that are available in the market today. Keeping various factors in consideration the notebooks can be broadly divided into four major categories, such as:Budget laptops - Typically, these laptops cost around US$ 1000 to $ 1200. Mid-range laptops - Notebooks of this category can be found with a price-tag of about US$1200 to $1600.Ultra-portable laptops - These light-weight laptops ranges from US$1600 to $2200. Laptops for the people with a class apart. With all the standard and advanced features in these notebooks, they cost above US$2200.Performance test of laptops: Notebooks can be tested on the basis of certain benchmarks such as Multimedia content creation 2003 and Business Winston 2002. These tests determine the performance ability of different notebooks with regard to regular productivity applications and multimedia content application. Similarly, 3D Mark05 and 3D Mark06 are used as standards to measure the gaming and graphic potential of different notebooks. Likewise, PC Mark05 is taken as a yardstick to test various components of notebooks such as hard-disk general usage, multithreading, web-page rendering, file decryption and 3D pixel shader. Moreover, the battery back-up and wireless connectivity can be tested using Battery Mark02 and QCheck as the benchmark. Finally, Vista Compatibility Check can be undertaken to test if the notebooks have Vista-readiness. Under this test, the performance of the laptops is assessed on the basis of Vista drivers and Vista upgradeability. Features: When it comes to features, the list seems endless. Some expensive notebooks have the most advanced features such as built-in webcams, fingerprint readers, TPM and so on. So far as the features go, they can be divided into five different categories, such as:Physical - Screen size and weight of the notebook Connectivity - Bluetooth version 1/2, infrared, MMC reader, S-Video, DVI port, FireWire. The number and type of USB ports and PCMCIA slots. Components - Type of optical drives, whether the notebook has a DVD combo, a CD-RW or a multi-recorder DVD-RW. The hard-drive capacity and any additional component such as wireless optical mouse or an MMC adapter. Software - Software have always been an essential part of the package. These include recovery CDs, driver CDs, OSes, etc. Protection - All types of protection available in a notebook, be it a finger-print reader, BIOS level HDD protection, touch-pad lock, TPM, or even rescue option available at the time of boot up. Pricing and Warranty: All notebooks ranging from $1200 to $4500 offer warranty of 1 year and some laptops have the option of additional extendable warranty. So, the above discussed comprehensive analysis and performance tests will definitely help those who are planning to buy a laptop. Apple iWork '08 Review

The $79 iWork '08 appears to be a good deal for anyone needing an affordable office suite for the Mac. Apple has finally added a spreadsheet application. At first glance, Numbers is an elegant no-brainer for anyone migrating from Microsoft Excel. In the past, many Mac aficionados bought Microsoft Excel because iWork lacked a spreadsheet application. However, with the addition of Numbers and the release of Microsoft's Office for Mac 2008 delayed until January, Mac users may stick to Apple's less expensive option. We're also happy that Mac hasn't changed its file formats as Microsoft did with Office 2007.We like the sparse interfaces throughout the iWork package. Its features aren't as deep or rich as in Microsoft Office 2007, but iWork also hasn't changed radically from its last incarnation, unlike Office. iWork also covers much more than just the basic productivity tasks offered by online tools like Google Docs & Spreadsheets or the Zoho suite, so it should be adequate for the vast majority of home and small-business users.System requirements, thankfully, are gentle to users of older Macs. You'll need an Intel, PowerPC G5 or G4 machine with a 500MHz or better processor in addition to 512MB of RAM minimum, running OS X10.4.10.PagesApple tore a page out of Microsoft Office's book by creating a Contextual Format Bar that displays different features according to your task at hand. Select text, and the bar shows font options. Click on a picture, and the bar displays image-editing features. Unlike the contextual formatting Ribbon interface within Microsoft Word 2007, however, Pages offers no live previews of font and image changes as you hover over them.Pages '08 also adds Change Tracking, similar to the Track Changes feature adopted many years ago by Microsoft Word. We're glad that Pages gets this treatment for displaying document revisions rather than the often confusing revision and commenting history offered by the online Google Docs.Pages includes the usual must-have features for writers such as footnotes, bookmarks, and tables of content, in addition to integration with charts and functions from the new Numbers app. In addition, Pages now detects when you type a list and formats bulleted points automatically. We just hope that this won't drive us batty (as it does sometimes in Microsoft Word). There are plenty of page templates for letters, resumes, reports, and the like to get started if a blank slate poses too much pressure. Page Layout mode lets you create relatively complex designs without software such as Adobe InDesign, great if you're throwing together reports for work. It lets you layer images on top of images too. The Instant Alpha feature, also found in Keynote, lets you cut out backgrounds in images without dealing with alpha channels, a la Photoshop. And we prefer Pages' color wheel, crayons, and spectrum to Word's color options.KeynoteMicrosoft PowerPoint 2007 may be richer, but Apple Keynote '08 adds some smart features that PowerPoint lacks. It's also a breeze to figure out from the get-go. Action Builds let you create basic point-A-to-B motion animation, without needing to deal with motion tweens as in complex apps such as Adobe Flash. Smart Builds enable animation, such as rotating photographs, using images you can grab from the iLife media browser. And new voiceover recordings enable you, say, to narrate podcasts with pictures. There are new between-slide transitions and slide show themes too.NumbersOur early look at the new Numbers reveals ease of use novelties that competitive tools don't provide. Microsoft Excel 2007 still appears to be more robust, particularly for number crunchers such as scientists, accountants, or engineers. Yet the majority of users who rely upon spreadsheets as one-size-fits-all tools for household and light office work should be pleased to have a new option for Macs.Numbers comes with plenty of templates, including travel planners, business expenses, and school science lab reports. Of course, it can also save and export Excel-readable files. This application pleases the eye and can make attractive spreadsheets. We dragged around text boxes, images, and tables using alignment guides without a hitch. You can add 3D bar, pie, and other charts and even integrate maps into a spreadsheet. The controls for working with tables were extremely user-friendly in our early tests. Slider bars allow you to adjust the numeric values within cells, handy if you're looking to add a range of values. Resizing columns and rows appears to be less of a hassle than with Excel. You can drag data from a file of contacts or into a Numbers table that will automatically partition information into the appropriate columns. And sorting a table smartly leaves the headers alone. Formulas appear to be the same as those in Microsoft Excel, but Numbers also has easy-to-find natural language shortcuts for common calculations, such as sums and averages. The Interactive Print View offers more controls than in Microsoft Excel, which easily leads to unwieldy spreadsheet printouts. Numbers shows where a stray column might take up an unnecessary extra page. You can eliminate the overlap with a slider bar that instantly scales the tables, charts, and images on a page.

Cisco PIX/ASA Security Appliance: How to Configure Banners

Banners can be configured to display when a user first connects (MOTD), when a user logs in (login), or when a user accesses privileged mode (exec). Banners are used for legal warnings such as when a user is cautioned not to access a restricted system or that their access of a system is subject to monitoring and logging. Banners are also used on locked systems placed at customer locations by service providers to provide contact information for device access or technical support. The Cisco security appliance supports the use of login banners in console sessions and Telnet sessions, but not in SSH sessions. Exec and MOTD banners are supported in console, Telnet, and SSH sessions. Banners can be up to 510 characters in length. You can create multiple line banners either by creating multiple banner statements or by using the keystroke sequence of "\n" which inserts a carriage return. Here's how banners are displayed:MOTD Banners--When usernames are not configured, MOTD displays at login in a serial console session and before login in Telnet sessions. When usernames are configured, MOTD displays before login in a Telnet session and after login in a serial console session.Login Banners--The login banner displays before login in Telnet and serial console sessions.Exec Banners--The exec banner displays upon login in all sessions. How to Configure a BannerNote: The following procedures were tested on an ASA 5505 Security Appliance running software version 7.22. Other hardware or software platforms may require modification of these procedures in order to function properly. To configure a banner, use the following configuration mode commands:asa(config)#banner motd This is a restricted system.asa(config)#banner motd Do not attempt unauthorized access.Notice the use of two banner motd statements to create a multi-line banner. As mentioned previously, you can also use the "\n" key sequence to insert a carriage return. You can view the banners you created with the following privileged mode command:asa#show running-config bannerHands-On Exercise: Creating Banners on the Security ApplianceThe following procedures are for training purposes only and should only be performed on devices in a laboratory environment. Under no circumstances should these procedures be performed on equipment in a live, production environment without first verifying their suitability in a laboratory environment. In the following hands-on exercise, you will create MOTD, login, and EXEC banners.Step 1: In configuration mode, enter the following commands:asa(config)#banner motd This is the MOTD bannerasa(config)#banner login This is the login bannerasa(config)#banner exec This is the EXEC bannerStep 2: Display the banners you just created with the following command:asa(config)#show running-config bannerStep 3: Type exit repeatedly until you are logged out of your laboratory security appliance.Notice which banners are displayed.Step 4: Enter privileged mode with the command "enable" and notice which banners are displayed.Step 5: From your laboratory computer, start a Telnet session and again observe which banners are displayed. When you are finished, exit the Telnet session.Step 6: Also from your laboratory computer, start an SSH session and again observe which banners are displayed. When you are finished, exit the SSH session.Note: The above procedures are similar to the procedures used to configure banners on other Cisco devices including routers.

Basis of Web Design Templates

Templates are already made designs for sites and according to user’s needs they can be modified and adapted. They provide the basis for easy, fast and quality website development. Website templates are the excellent tool that can speed up the designing schedule with improved quality. You can use them to build personal webpage or even a corporate site. You just have to add your text and pictures to them and here you got your functional and individual website!Starting up a new website requires lot of time and huge amount of money. Our free templates solve both these problems simultaneously. You don't have to pay single penny for the new look of your website since we offer you free templates.Web Design Company provides unique and professional Web site templates, Flash templates, HTML templates and many more for free of cost. All templates offered at Web Site Design Company fulfill the highest quality standards, are user-friendly and easy to customize. At a very basic level, template users will need a way to edit the text content of a template. More likely than not the new template will be brimming with paragraphs beginning with "Lorem ipsum dolor" or similarly incoherent gibberish. Replacing that with your business copy can be achieved in a number of ways. Anything from a simple text editor like Notepad in Windows to more advanced packages like FrontPage or Dreamweaver can be used to edit the text. Using simple editors like Notepad will require at least a rudimentary knowledge of HTML, if only to know what to avoid changing in the template while adding text. Advanced editors usually provide a more "word processor-like" feel with graphical onscreen display that attempts to mimic the output on the final product. Your choice of design software is generally a personal one and beyond the scope of this article. It is preferable to have a basic familiarity with the chosen software before jumping into template editing, as template HTML can be complex and intimidating to the novice. However, template systems have also introduced some complexities. First, we now have one "page" built from multiple files. Typically, you might have the main PHP page responsible for business logic, an outer "layout" template that renders the overall layout of the site, an inner content-specific template, a database abstraction layer, and the template engine itself (which may or may not be comprised of multiple files). Alternatively, some people simply include "header" and "footer" files at the start and end of each PHP page. This is an incredible number of files to generate a single page. Yet, as the PHP parser is pretty fast, the number of files used is probably not important unless your site gets insane amounts of traffic. However, keep in mind that template systems introduce yet another level of processing. Not only do the template files have to be included, they also have to be parsed (depending on the template system, this can happen in a range of ways -- using regular expressions, str_replaces, compiling, lexical parsing, etc.). This is why template benchmarking became popular: because template engines use a variety of different methods to parse data, some of which are faster than others (also, some template engines offer more features than others).Templates are "short cuts", but a short cut the novice user may not wish to take. Most templates require a particular, and generally expensive, set of tools to fully customize. Prospective template shoppers may want to consider hiring an outside design firm to actually do the work on their selected website template. Some designers recommend this method, as it provides a basic short-cut in terms of rudimentary layout and design that can be invaluable. Pay attention to the template site's terms of service, though, as many will require the end user directly purchase the template and deliver it to the designer themselves in lieu of the designers making the purchase. The Author is the owner of a Web Site Design Company (http://www.freetemplates.webdesigningcompany.net), and providing free flash templates to clients across USA and UK.

NTP Servers Simplified

NTP was developed as an Internet Protocol to disseminate accurate timing information to client computers across the Internet. NTP, or Network Time Protocol, is utilised throughout the Internet to provide client machines with accurate time. This article attempts to simplify the terminology used in computer time synchronisation and describes some of the features of the Network Time Protocol. NTP is one of the oldest continuously used Internet protocols. It was developed over 25 years ago at the University of Delaware by Dr D Mills. NTP primarily runs on the Linux\Unix operating systems but has recently been ported to Microsoft Windows.NTP servers obtain accurate time from an external timing reference, such as GPS or Radio time and frequency transmissions. A NTP Server provides networked clients primarily with three peices of information: system clock offset, network delay and dispersion relative to an external reference clock. The NTP protocol is configured in a hierarchical manner; primary servers, secondary servers and time clients. Primary NTP servers are synchronised to an accurate external clock and is attributed a stratum, or hierarchy, level of one. Second level NTP servers obtain time from primary NTP servers and are used to spread the load of requests for time from clients. Secondary servers are attributed a stratum of greater than one. As the stratum increases, so the accuracy of the server decreases. The Network Time Protocol uses the TCP\IP UDP protocol (User Data-gram Protocol). The protocol defines a number of distinct fields in the messages: Leap Indicator; Version Number; Mode; Stratum; Poll; Precision; Root Delay; Root Dispersion; Reference Identifier; Reference Timestamp; Originate Timestamp; Receive Timestamp; Transmit Timestamp; Key Identifier and Message Digest.A NTP server can operate in three modes: unicast; anycast and multicast. In unicast and anycast modes, the client transmits a NTP request message to the server. The NTP server replies with a time stamp that the client can utilise for accurate timing. In multicast mode, NTP time messages are broadcast at periodic specified intervals. The current release of NTP is version 4. The only significant modification to the protocol between versions 3 and 4 is a slight header re-interpretation to accommodate IPv6. All new releases of NTP are backwards compatible with previous versions of the protocol.SNTP, or Simple Network Time Protocol, is a simplification of the full-blown Network Time Protocol. It can be used where the complexities of the full-blown protocol are not required. The SNTP protocol is mainly utilised on Microsoft Windows operating systems which does not have the complex time keeping algorithms of LINUX.SNTP can be implemented when the high synchronisation performance of NTP is not required. The message format of the SNTP protocol is almost identical to that of the NTP protocol. However, the complex subroutines designed to maintain a highly accurate synchronised time are removed or simplified. Small computers with reduced processing power, such as micro-controllers or monitoring equipment most often use SNTP. The NTP and SNTP protocols are interoperable and can be interchanged without problem.

Internet Filtering Software Reviews - Top 3 Filtering Programs

Are your children spending to much time on the computer. Is it impossible to get them to stop playing games? Do you have the time to sit there and supervise your children? Would it be nice for your children to just get up and leave the computer after an hour? You may want to consider using an internet filter software program on your home computers if you answer yes to any of these questions. The internet is full of enormous resources and not all this information on the web is what you want your children viewing. Your kids may be subject to inappropriate web sites or violent video games. Parental filtering software can help you monitor what is viewed on your computer. What can parental control filters do?1. Filter Web SurfingThe majority of the internet filter software programs filter web site usage and block admission to websites that match up to about 50 different specific categories. The filters use a database that is either loaded on the computer or a database that is online to label web sites. Some filters will actually examine the content on each page. You can have the choice of tracking violations warnings that popup on the screen without blocking the website or merely displaying a warning popup window advising not to go further. It is best to use a software that will allow you to have the decision of overriding the warning notice to allow access to the site the child is attempting to access. Sometimes the software may be a bit too aggressive and block a site that is appropriate. That is fine, go ahead and unblock it.Along these same lines, remote management can be very useful. Many of the internet filter programs may inform you by phone, e-mail, or text message when these particular events happen and you can make changes from a remote location or just be aware of what is going on when you are not home. Great idea I must add.2. Time ManagementFiltering software will allow you to limit the amount of time your children spend on the computer. You can set the time allowance to be based on weekly or daily usage. You can set the software in half hour blocks of time or even by the minute. Some filtering programs will allow you to set the time limits based on programs, internet usage or overall computer usage. Make sure the program you are using will not allow the child to change the system clock. The top programs will guard against this type of abuse.Check for a program that will allow multiple users so you do not have to place similar limits on a preschooler and a teenager.3. Manage Content ViewedLogging their surfing habits may make you feel as if you are viewing your childrens diary, but nearly all internet-control programs do it. Most will at least log web sites viewed and any attempts to get to blocked websites. Many of these programs will also record the time that is spent using various programs, even log every keystroke typed, record both sides of e-mail or instant messaging conversations along with which software program the message was used. And last, make sure the program is password protected and cannot be broken into to make changes on the filter. Here are 3 of our top filtering software programs you can pick from.1. Vista Prone to Hacking?

Can it really be possible? Windows Vista, the newly released operating of Microsoft, is vulnerable to hacking? Yes, you heard it right. It is possible, according to Microsoft itself. Well, it appears that an audio podcast has the capability of hacking Windows Vista’s speech recognition feature. By using recorded audio commands, hackers can run malicious programs.Based on an initial investigation conducted by Microsoft, Vista’s speech recognition feature can allow an attacker to execute commands verbally on a user’s computer. The commands, however, are limited to the rights of a certain logged on user. Any commands on the administrative level will be barred by the User Account Control.Microsoft explains that the hacking can done when the user has a microphone and speakers connected to his or her computer with the speech recognition feature configured. Once these exist, the audio file of an attacker could issue verbal commands through the system’s speakers which could be executed by the speech recognition feature. With this flaw, it is possible for a podcast or any other audio file for that matter to delete documents of a Vista user and empty the trash. Users are advised to disable speech recognition within Vista.Microsoft assures its customers that it is continuously looking into the issue and will provide more guidance to protect them. To avoid this attack, Vista users are advised to take several steps. First is to turn off their computer speakers and microphone. The next thing to do is to close the Windows Media Player, turn off the speech recognition feature and restart the computer if the user runs an audio file that tries to execute commands on their system. A user can disable speech recognition by going to the speech recognition options and unchecking “run speech recognition at startup.” While there, a user can also disable the default speech profile for the system. This is to avoid the risk of outside voices and noise being recognized as valid for input instead of the user’s own voice. The recent launching of Microsoft Vista is the biggest ever in the history of Microsoft. It was the grandest launch because of the introduction of both a new Windows and Office operating system. It came five years after Windows XP was introduced. This early, Microsoft officials foresee that Vista will be accepted by people faster compared to other Windows operating systems. For the first two years, the firm expects to sell approximately 200 million copies to businesses and consumers around the world. Vista features unique graphics including 3-D icons and folders with the so-called transparent glass effects. The launch of this new upgrade, originally named Longhorn, had been postponed several times as Microsoft took extra efforts to make sure that Vista will be fully secured from more complex and high-tech Internet attacks.Microsoft Vista comes in four versions with advanced interface and security tools. To be able to run the system, you will need a minimum of an 800MHz processor, 512 RAM and a hard disk with a 15GB capacity. The firm also guaranteed that Vista will benefit gamers and game developers apart from businesses and regular consumers.

Search engine friendly web page design

Search engine optimization is no longer confined to link building and creating search engine friendly pages. Today search engine optimization requires a more holistic and complete approach, one of the most important components of search engine optimization today is content. Google and other search engines have already hinted at the importance of content, and its not uncommon for sites with better content but lower page rank, to outrank sites that have higher page rank but lower content. It is important for webmasters to use content to their advantage; the first place where content has to be optimized is on the website itself. Web content is constantly indexed by all search engines, and the content on any website is what decides the popularity of the site with search engines. The most important aspect of optimizing web content is keyword density. An ideal site should have the targeted keyword density close to 5%. Although there are various schools of thought regarding the keyword density that a site should have to make it effective, the truth is that keyword density is important for optimizing a website.Apart from the keyword density of your content, another thing that makes a difference is on page optimization of the content, essentially which text is bold, underlined or is H1. Google and other search engines recognize content by not just keyword density, the placement of the position and properties of the content are also equally important. If you are looking to optimize or market a site, the first thing you need to do is work on the content of the site to make it search engine friendly. In addition to making the content on your site search engine friendly, you should also look to use other avenues like articles, press releases and other avenues where content is key. One of the most popular ways of using content for search engine optimization is article writing, articles are designed to be non-promotional in nature, and the chances of an article being accepted increase manifold if there are just a few (if not no) links within the article. Article submission sites have already started cracking down on spam users, and for an article to be accepted on any article site, all internet copywriting firms have started concentrating on writing quality articles first and optimizing them later.Another great place to start optimizing a site textually is to write a press release, unlike articles, press releases are designed to be promotional in nature and no one cracks down on a press release for being full of links. In fact press release writing is one of the simplest ways to promote a site without worrying about infringing on any rules, the only thing to remember is that just like articles, for a press release to be accepted on news and article sites, it must be properly written. If you are looking for search engine optimization services, make sure the search engine optimization firm is aware of the various ways in which a site can be optimized by using content.
